All we ask you now is to review and consider the opportunities, benefits, and expectations related to your volunteering interest and then to fill out our simple inquiry form when you feel you are READY TO SERVE.

From there, we’ll follow up with you to answer any questions and take you through the next steps of our onboarding process and assist you with the documents we require. We’ll be in contact with you along the way to keep you engaged and interested, making sure you have the information you need to make an informed decision about volunteering with us.

Please follow the directions carefully as incomplete applications or failure to
follow directions will be grounds for disqualification from the process.

Application Requirements:

• Be a minimum of 18 years of age
• Pass a criminal background check
• High school graduate or hold a GED certificate
• Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Meet minimum health and physical fitness standards and pass a medical exam

Note: Required for Neighborhood, Reserve and Resident Volunteer Firefighters

ALL applications must include the following to be considered complete:

• • Complete the District Volunteer Firefighter Application. We will forward this to you after we receive your inquiry form and discuss your interest in applying for membership.
  • Complete and have notarized the “Authorization to Release Information” Form that we will send to you as part of the application process. Note that this form must be signed in the presence of a Notary. District 10 normally has members who can notarize these forms if dropped off in person during business hours Monday through Friday.
  • Obtain and submit a letter of recommendation. These must be written by a non-family member, i.e. employer, teacher, etc.
  • Obtain and submit a Driver’s Abstract from the Washington State Department of Licensing. This can be done on-line at: https://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/requestyourrecord.html or in person at any Drivers Licensing office. There is a $13 fee. These should be procured no earlier than 90 days from the time of application to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
    • Applicants who have lived in Washington State for less than three years must ALSO supply an abstract from their previous state of residence. These must be less than three months old at the time of application.
