Address Signs
In emergency, minutes lost looking for an address can be critical. Address numbers should be at least 4" tall, and displayed between 3 and 5 ft. off the ground. Address signs must be visible from the road and well-lit or highly reflective.

If you need address numbers for your home or business, contact District 10. Here is the information about address signs.

Product Recalls
When consumer products fail they can cause fires, injuries and even deaths. To prevent death and injury, the Congress enacted the Consumer Product Safety Act of 1972. This law directs the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to "protect the public". The CPSC's web site disseminates information about products that may cause injury.

Defensible Spaces
Clearing flammable materials from around the home creates a defensible space. A minimum 30-ft. buffer reduces the chance of wildfire from spreading to your home. On steeper ground, as much as 100 feet of clearance may be necessary.

Here are some tips for designing and maintaining your landscape.

       •   Carefully space the trees you plant and keep mature trees pruned up to 6-10 ft. from the ground.
  •   Remove any 'ladder fuels' - vegetation that serves as a link between grass and tree tops.
  •   Protect yourself with 'fuel breaks' like driveways, gravel walkways and lawns.
  •   Store your firewood away from the house.

Homeland Security
All Americans should begin a process of learning about potential threats so we are better prepared to react during an attack. While there is no way to predict what will happen, or what your personal circumstances will be, there are simple things you can do now to prepare yourself and your loved ones.
